“Solo but supported“
I’m Jill, an AAT licensed accountant. I believe that every business owner should have the freedom to do their own bookkeeping if they choose. I’ve been busy planning a brand-new support group, the Springreach DIY Bookkeeping Community, which opens its doors on 6 April 2026. Here’s an outline of who the community is for, what’s included in the membership, and how it might be able to help you:
Who is it for?
If you are self-employed, not registered for VAT, and are looking to manage your own bookkeeping, this community is designed for you.
Do you want:
- to learn how to do your own bookkeeping, with or without software?
- to improve your existing bookkeeping skills?
- help with choosing and using software?
- accountability in keeping your bookkeeping records up-to-date on a monthly basis?
- the reassurance of help and support from a professional accountant?
What’s included?
You’ll get support and accountability to help you manage your own bookkeeping and Making Tax Digital quarterly updates. You’ll also get access to a vault of training resources.
Membership includes:
- (Week 1) A monthly bookkeeping nudge e-mail
- (Week 2) A monthly 2-hour community bookkeeping call, split between a 1-hour live bookkeeping and software Q&A and a 1-hour focus session with live chat monitoring
- (Week 3 – once a quarter) A 1-hour live Making Tax Digital Q&A session including bookkeeping review tips and guidance on submitting quarterly updates
- (Week 4) A monthly round up e-mail with links to the latest software demos, training and resources
- A private Facebook group for Q&A support throughout the month
- Access to an ever-increasing content library including step-by-step processes, training videos, checklists, tools, templates and timelines
There’s no long-term commitment – stay in the community for as long as you want, or dip in and out.
How the community can help you
This community is ideal if you want to learn how to do your own bookkeeping – including submitting your own quarterly Making Tax Digital updates, if relevant.
- It provides support for manual bookkeeping, spreadsheets and a range of software packages, including VT Software, Pandle, Xero, FreeAgent and QuickBooks.
- You’ll be able to ask me questions, either live on the monthly Zoom calls, through the Facebook group, or by email if you’re not on Facebook.
- You’ll have access to a range of bookkeeping training, resources and software demos, some of which will be created in response to member questions.
- You can also benefit from accountability in keeping your bookkeeping records up-to-date on a monthly or quarterly basis.
The biggest transformation this community will offer is that it will give you the confidence to do your own bookkeeping. You’ll learn how to do it right, how to avoid common errors, and how to check it all makes sense at the end of the year – even if you still use an accountant to help you with your end of year Tax Return. You’ll feel more in control and less overwhelmed – reassured and supported by having Q&A support from a qualified accountant at a price that won’t break the bank.
Testers needed!
I’m really excited about this new membership! The regular price will be £25 a month, but I’m offering a special rate of £15 a month to the first 10 people who sign up to test it. If you’re interested in becoming a founder member of the Springreach DIY Bookkeeping Community and helping to shape the membership from the beginning, you can sign up here or send me a message if you have any questions.
